Situated in Knysna, the heart of the South African indigenous timber industry, George Fechter established Fechters Furniture Manufacturers in 1936.

With the company growing and an ever widening client base, reaching far beyond our borders, Fechters became well known for producing elegant masterpieces in timbers such as stinkwood, yellowwood and hard pear, as well as sought after Australian blackwood, a well established timber in the area.

While being best known to produce classical Cape Dutch styles, youthful incumbents to the management team, have seen the introduction of more contemporary designs too. Modern, clean and uncluttered designs are constantly being introduced to our range of furniture, whilst maintaining the high level of craftsmanship that the company is famous for.

Fechters also specialises in producing custom made furniture, tailor-made to individual customers needs and in a variety of timbers and finishes. Today, furniture by Fechters can be found in many luxury hotels, lodges and private homes.

In 1995, we also became one of the first South African manufacturers to design and manufacture a wide range of patio furniture. Today, Fechters is considered one of the largest local manufacturers of outdoor furniture, with our products available through selected retailers country wide.
